LUDHIANA: Deputy commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said on Wednesday that the district was likely to witness the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in September. Considering this, the administration has implemented an odd-even formula for markets to discourage unnecessary crowding. Sharma urged people to right away attend the closest government COVID testing centers and obtain their test avoided any delay as these tests are being done freed from cost.




He said that if the disease is detected within the initial stage then it might be controlled to an outsized extent. Replying to a question regarding the entire lockdown within the month of September during a Facebook live session, the DC said that no such information had been received from the government and baseless and false rumors circulating on social media platforms should be avoided.


When asked about the 7pm lockdown, Sharma said that it had been common for several people to carry parties within the evening, which led to the spread of coronavirus infection. the danger of infection remains. This decision has been taken keeping in sight the health of the people which is within the interest of all folks.

Replying to a question regarding the reopening of all the shops, the DC said he would bring this to the notice of the commissioner of police in order that he would take up the matter with the concerned SHOs. He also appealed to the market associations to follow the instructions issued by the govt and cooperate with the district administration.
