This will happen for Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and elsewhere it will happen only on January 14. Unlike Kashi, in all the Panchangs (Drupātika), due to the entry of the zodiac within 14 days, Punyakal will also be celebrated on 14th itself, which will be celebrated all over India.

According to Pandit Raj Shastri, according to both Decision Sindhu and Dharmasindhu, there is a holy period of 40 hours on the day of Makar Sankranti during Pradosh Kaal or Nishith Kaal. According to this, for Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, the holy period of Sankranti will be celebrated on the next day (on 15th January) only till 11:41. Sankranti is considered on the day the zodiac changes.
