LOHRI "THE AUSPICIOUS FESTIVAL"
Festival of Lohri is a really popular Punjabi fest celebrated with great joy and happiness. Lori is celebrated in time-outs when day becomes shortest and night becomes longest.
In this fest, people celebrate the crop of the crops by lighting a bonfire, singing and dancing in praise of dulha batti. It's celebrated altogether in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Mumbai. Lohri is a Punjabi jubilee, celebrated primarily by people belonging to the Punjabi community.
Lohri Festival is generally celebrated on 13th day of January every year. It's generally celebrated on the day before the Makar Sankranti celebration.
Lohri marks the end of winter season. People make every effort to take advantage of the last days of the downtime season. It provides an occasion to interact with friends and familiesKite Flying People also fly kites on this day. Kite flying event is enjoyed by all ages.
Bonfire Men and Women wear traditional clothes and dance around the bonfire. They also sing songs and mantras to please God.
