Jagran Correspondent (Zira) Ferozepur. CM Charanjit Singh Channi remained silent in the matter of lynching on behalf of the sangat of the accused of sacrilege in the Darbar Sahib of Amritsar and the Gurdwara of Kapurthala. Channi refrained from commenting on the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Channi, who arrived on Sunday to address the public meeting in support of MLA Kulbir Zira, neither discussed the sacrilege issue on the stage nor did he answer the media's question.

After laying the foundation stone of development works worth crores in Jeera, the Chief Minister appealed to the local people to cooperate with Kulbir Jeera. On this occasion, he assured to solve the problems of the numberdars, to give their rights to the people occupying the land and to fix the freight for the truck operators. However, while addressing the stage earlier, Kulveer Zira, while talking about the sacrilege in Sri Harimander Sahib, demanded strict punishment to the culprits. Jeera blamed the Badal family for the incident.

RSS called the sacrilege unfortunate

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has termed the incident of contempt of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Golden Temple Amritsar on December 18 as unfortunate. Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh strongly condemns the sacrilege. Hesbale said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Sri Guru Parampara are a matter of common heritage and reverence for all of us and are the repository of India's wealth of knowledge. The forces which make the society fight amongst themselves are conspiring for this and keep doing it. Such conspirators should be exposed and punished severely. Society should not allow any hindrance in mutual harmony due to such incidents.
